Theme: Kaleidoscope

“Life is like an ever-shifting kaleidoscope - a slight change, and all patterns alter.” - Sharon Salzberg

A kaleidoscope is a viewing instrument that creates a continually changing pattern of shapes and colors. It is a treasure trove of beautiful colors, ever shifting, ever delightful to the eye. It draws the viewer into a new world that envelopes their vision with an infinity of patterns. For this exhibition we are seeking works that are extravagant to view, works that evoke drama or strong emotions through the use of color, shape, pattern or line. Kaleidoscope can also be interpreted as meaning a wide range of ideas, a multitude of people dressed in colorful costumes, or a space filled with shifting, colorful lights. It can also depict sunlight interacting with nature, the brilliance of someone’s eyes, or the iridescent body of an insect or bird. Multiple interpretations of this theme are encouraged.

Entry Requirements:

All entries must be submitted electronically. Judging will be done entirely from JPEGs. No other formats will be accepted. The size given for works should be the framed size. For works on paper, add mat and frame estimate to paper dimensions and provide total. Before sending, please confirm that your files are labeled properly, meet technical requirements and can be opened before uploading. We recommend saving images to your desktop so you can view file names.

Email online entries to averittcenterforthearts2015@gmail.com
