Younger students begin in Creative Movement classes, which combine basic ballet and tap techniques with movement games and activities. These are shown to help in the critical development of creativity and coordination. Students then progress to Classical Ballet classes, which are organized by skill levels. Our dance studios are located in the Center for Performing Arts at 41 West Main Street and 5 North Main in downtown Statesboro. Come and visit us! We welcome students aged three to adult. Unless otherwise notified, there are no classes held during Bulloch County School breaks.

Pre-Ballet/ Tap Combo

Meeting once a week, this class is for children from ages 3 to 5 years old. They have the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of ballet and tap. In addition to learning the basic movements and terminology, students get the freedom to express themselves through creative movement and learn how to work together as a group.

In this class, children from ages 9-13 years old have the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of ballet. In addition to providing a solid basic ballet foundation, more intermediate-level movements and terminology are introduced in this curriculum. Technique becomes an integral part of ballet class. Students wear a purple leotard. Students have the option to take 2x per week.

All of our Pointe classes are by invitation only. Each student needs to be evaluated by the instructor and the director before entering into a Pointe class. We take the dancer's safety very seriously and encourage at home strength-training programs specified by our staff for each dancer individually.

This class will cover basic ballet positions, steps and vocabulary with a focus on the student's awareness of proper posture and body alignment. Standing barre work and center floor exercises will be given to enhance coordination, strength, balance and flexibility. Participants will also develop a sense of musical awareness and movement quality. No prior ballet experience necessary.
Lyrical 1 & 2

Lyrical dance borrows from ballet, jazz, and many modern dance techniques of the 20th century. Lyrical encourages dancers to be versatile in their expressions, being able to portray a wide array of movement styles and emotion. It focuses on spacial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, leaps, turns, efficiency of muscle usage, and safe body alignment.
Jazz/Musical Theater
This class meets once per week. In this class, children (from ages 6-9 years old for Mini class, level I 10+ years, and for level II 12+) have the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of jazz. In addition to providing a solid basic Jazz foundation, students will learn how to interact with the audience and fellow dance mates on the stage. And learn how to engage and capture the audience. Students are not required, but it is strongly recommended to also attend ballet classes. Ballet influences all genres of dance
