Artist Statement:
Dearly Beloved features new work by Antonia B. Larkin, an interdisciplinary artist based in Savannah, GA. Rooted in the awareness of life and the act of commemoration, this exhibition delves into the interconnectedness of time, tragedy, and renewal. Using elemental materials such as dirt, and water alongside video and sound, Larkin seeks to create immersive works that explore the fragility and resilience of existence.
This exhibition invites reflection on the ephemeral and the eternal, where beginnings and endings coexist. Through sculptural forms, and the integration of soundscapes and moving images, Larkin emphasizes the transient yet enduring qualities of the natural world. These layered mediums create an environment that evokes both memory and presence, inviting viewers to engage with life and loss.
Dearly Beloved highlights the inherent beauty in life’s cycles, paying homage to what has been lost while celebrating the potential for regeneration. Larkin’s practice seeks to challenge Western notions of linearity, offering instead a vision of existence as continuous.
