Unless otherwise noted, our classes are held in 8-week sessions:

Session 1: August 14, 2023- October 6, 2023

Session 2: October 9, 2023- December 15, 2023  ***no classes week of October 16, November 20

Session 3: January 8, 2024-March 8, 2024. ***no classes week of  February 12

Session 4: March 18 – May 17, 2024    ***No classes week of April 1-5

Adult Recorder Choir

Mondays @  11:00 am-12:00 pm

Ages: 16+ years old     Location: 2nd Floor Classroom

Instructor: Robert Cottle

Tuition: $150 per 8-week session ($125 members)

If you played in band or orchestra in high school and miss ensemble playing, then this is the ensemble for you. A recorder is much more than a plastic toy for the elementary classroom. The instrument has been around since the 14th century, and lots of beautiful music exists for the instrument. The most beautiful of which is the ensemble repertoire. No experience needed. Those with an interest in playing should participate.

Averitt Center Community Choir

Tuesdays @  6:30pm- 8 pm

Unless otherwise noted, our choir rehearsals are held in 8-week sessions:

Ages: 16+ years old     Location: 3rd  Floor Youth Gallery

Instructor: Robert Cottle

Tuition: $100 per 8-week session ($75 members)

The Averitt Center community choir is open to anyone age 16 and older who has a desire to sing, have fun, and meet new people! No audition is necessary and all levels of singers are welcome. The goal of our time together is to sing a variety of choral music
in 4 parts.

Group Piano Class, Homeschoolers Elementary

Wednesdays @  2:00-3:00 pm

Ages: 1st-5th grade     Location: Youth Gallery

Instructor: Robert Cottle and Jana Rentz

Tuition: $150 per 8-week session ($125 members)

This class is designed especially for 1st - 5th-grade homeschool students who love playing the piano. Players at all levels are encouraged to participate. This class will focus on performance and ensemble playing. We will also include work on technique, theory, and ear training with group games. We hope this class leaves your young pianist feeling more confident about the performance and understanding the role practice takes in making it possible.

Group Piano Class, Homeschoolers Middle/ Highschool

Wednesdays @  1:00-2:00 pm

Ages: 6th+ grade     Location: Youth Gallery

Instructor: Robert Cottle and Jana Rentz

Tuition: $150 per 8-week session ($125 members)

This class is designed especially for 6th-12th grade homeschool students who love playing the piano. Players at all levels are encouraged to participate. This class will focus on performance and ensemble playing. We will also include work on technique, theory, and ear training with group games. We hope this class leaves your young pianist feeling more confident about the performance and understanding the role practice takes in making it possible.

Guitar Orchestra

Thursdays @  5:30-6:45 pm

Ages: 6th+ grade     Location: 3rd Floor Multipurpose Studio 

Instructor: Robert Cottle 

Tuition: $150 per 8-week session ($125 members)

The Guitar Orchestra is for all guitar players to participate in. This ensemble will focus on playing ensemble music on acoustic instruments. We will explore music from the renaissance up to modern film music. Then throw in a little jazz. This class will help improve music reading, guitar technique, and knowledge of the fret board.
