George Snyder: Lyrical Geometry

George Snyder’s geometric abstract works come in two forms: flat, often landscape – like on a painted surface or geometric constructions that lilt across space in the form of tubes. Growing up in West Virginia, Snyder was initially influenced by the colorful patterns in his grandmother’s quilts.

This is an exciting overview of quilts which have been produced by a regional quilting guild, Staying in Stitches.  The membership is not limited geographically, but a majority of the members live in Bulloch County. However, there are several members from Savannah and also from North Carolina, Massachusetts, Florida, and England. Using both traditional and newly designed patterns, the quilts in the exhibition took many hours of focused labor to produce.
