The King and I

This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical set in the 1860s, tells the story of Anna Leonowens, an English lady who longs for the opportunity to teach after her husband dies. In Siam (modern day Thailand), she is finally given the chance in Thailand to be the school mistress to the king's children.  But when their vastly different customs collide, Anna must decide whether to leave the children she’s grown to love and adore, or stay in hopes of softening up the bull-headed king.
